Skin-Age Prediction and Ageing Simulation

Two of the systems in our range model skin age and simulate how skin may age. It is the most persuasive feature these machines have, and the one that most needs a clear line drawn around it.

Powerful in consultationUse it honestlyDocumented feature

The X6 calculates real versus apparent skin age through its eight spectral wavelengths, and simulates both ageing and post-care skin outcomes. The B3 documents a skin prediction feature that models future ageing appearance from current skin condition to support long-term planning.

What this is: a visualisation generated from current imaging. What it is not: a prediction of what will happen to a specific person, or a promise of what a treatment will achieve. Presented as the first, it is a genuinely useful consultation tool. Presented as the second, it is a claim you cannot support.

How apparent skin age is derived

On the X6 it comes from the same indicator data as the rest of the report — the eight spectral captures feed measurements of wrinkles, collagen, pigment at three depths, texture and elasticity references, and the model produces an apparent age against the client's actual age.

  • Real age is what the client tells you.
  • Apparent skin age is modelled from the imaging.
  • The gap between them is the number clients react to — in either direction.

A client whose skin reads younger than their age is being given a reason to protect it. One whose skin reads older is being given a reason to act. Both are legitimate consultations, provided the framing is honest.

Ageing and post-care simulation

The X6 simulates ageing and post-care skin outcomes. This is a visual projection, and it is worth being precise with a client about what they are looking at:

  • It is generated from an algorithm applied to today's images.
  • It does not account for their genetics, health, sun exposure, sleep or anything else the machine cannot see.
  • It is not a prediction of what will happen, and not a promise of what a treatment will deliver.
  • It is a useful way to make an abstract long-term conversation concrete.
The wording we would use with a client: “this is what the software projects based on today's scan, to give us something to talk about — it is not a forecast.” That sentence costs nothing and protects you entirely.

The line to hold

This feature is where an analyser most easily crosses from persuasive into misleading, and the person exposed is you, not the manufacturer — the report goes out in your clinic's name.

  • Do not present a simulation as a predicted outcome
  • Do not present an apparent-age figure as a medical assessment
  • Do not use a simulation in advertising as though it were a result
  • Do label it clearly, in the report, as a projection — the self-editing mode lets you add exactly that note
  • Do use it for what it is genuinely good at: making a long-term care conversation tangible

Clinics that hold that line build a scan history clients trust. That trust is worth more than any single treatment sale.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the machine calculate skin age?

The X6 calculates real versus apparent skin age using its eight spectral wavelengths, drawing on the same indicator measurements as the rest of the report - wrinkles, collagen, pigment, texture and elasticity references.

Is the ageing simulation accurate?

It is a projection generated from today's imaging, not a forecast of what will happen to a specific person. It cannot account for genetics, health or lifestyle. Use it to make a conversation concrete, not as evidence.

Can I use a simulation in my marketing?

Not as though it were a result. A simulated image presented as an outcome is a claim you cannot support. Use consenting clients' actual documented comparisons instead.

Can I add a disclaimer to the report?

Yes - the self-editing report mode lets you edit the copy and annotate, so you can label a simulation as a projection in your own words.
