Scalp analysis is a different discipline from facial analysis: higher magnification, its own light spectra, and a zone-by-zone method. It is also the most persuasive consultation in aesthetics, because the client genuinely cannot see the area being discussed.

The colour coding, which is what clients actually read

This is the part that makes a scalp report land. Rather than numbers, the system marks up the image itself:

Five zones, three detection modes

Scalp analysis is done zone by zone, because condition varies across the head. The T3 covers five zones: forehead, skull top, left, right and posterior occipital, capturing all four spectra at each site.

That third mode is the one that sells. A client watching their own follicles on screen at 200×, live, is a fundamentally different consultation from being handed a printout.

How the indicators relate to each other

The manufacturer's documentation explains why these particular indicators were chosen — they connect:

  • Sebum attracts bacteria and fungi such as Malassezia, which is associated with seborrheic dermatitis, folliculitis and hair loss.
  • Clogged pores create conditions for bacteria, increasing risk of scalp inflammation and dermatitis.
  • Dandruff arises where Malassezia overbreeding breaks down sebum into oleic acid, stimulating excess cuticle hyperplasia.
  • Sensitivity indicates where the cuticle has thinned, leaving the scalp vulnerable to external stimulation.
  • Hair density is directly affected by sebum and inflammation blocking follicle mouths.
  • Follicle health matters because the follicle controls the hair growth cycle — growth, regression and rest.
That is the manufacturer's stated rationale for the indicator set, and it is useful for explaining to a client why several things are being measured together. It is not a diagnosis of any individual's condition — that remains a clinical judgement.
