Micro-Inspection at 50× and 200×

Alongside the full-face capture, these systems include a handheld probe for close-up work — and it is often the part a client remembers.

Full-face imaging gives you the overview and the report. Micro-inspection gives you the moment where a client leans in and looks at their own skin or scalp magnified two hundred times, live, while you talk them through it.

Both magnifications exist because they answer different questions.

On the dermascope the two are interchangeable lenses; on the T3 and X6 the probe switches between them.

Three light modes on the probe

The micro-imager captures close-up detail under three lighting conditions, mirroring the full-face logic at a smaller scale:

  • White light — true-colour surface detail
  • Polarized light — suppressing surface reflection to read texture and beneath it
  • UV light — fluorescence, for dryness, sensitivity and surface detail

The B3's documentation notes this is useful for showing texture, sensitivity and surface dryness changes visually, and the app supports moisture analysis with face-zone review, a micro-detection workflow, microscopic record history, and side-by-side microscopic comparison across dates and zones.

Why live viewing matters more than you would expect

The T3's real-time preview mode exists specifically for chairside demonstration — handheld detection with live visualisation while the client watches.

  • It removes the credibility gap. A report can be doubted. A live image of the client's own scalp cannot.
  • It is fast. No full five-zone capture needed to make a single point.
  • It works for follow-up. Look at the one area you treated, without re-running the whole protocol.
  • It records. Microscopic history lets you compare the same spot across dates.
If you are evaluating machines, ask to use the handheld probe yourself rather than watching someone else use it. How easily you can find and hold a spot at 200× determines whether this feature gets used after week three.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 50x and 200x?

50x suits skin surface and a broader scalp overview - pores, texture, oil distribution, redness. 200x is for follicle-level detail: follicle condition, density visualisation and pre-treatment analysis.

Can I show the client live, or only a report?

Live. The real-time preview mode is designed for chairside demonstration with handheld detection and live visualisation, switching between 50x and 200x.

Does micro-inspection get recorded?

Yes - microscopic record history stores repeated checks so you can compare the same area across dates, with side-by-side comparison in the app.

Is the probe included or an add-on?

It varies by model - a micro-inspection handpiece is listed among the X6's accessories, while the B3 documents a handheld microimager as an add-on. Confirm for the exact model you are quoted.
